Job Description
The Director of Youth Ministry will be responsible for coordinating and administering an effective and comprehensive ministry for youth grades 6-12 and their families. This person will also seek to support and resource parents to function as the primary caretakers of their children’s spiritual formation. The Youth Director will work collaboratively with the clergy team and staff, and report to the Senior Pastor as well as the Staff-Parish Relations Committee. This is a full-time position with a flexible schedule that includes evenings, weekends, and multi-day summer trips. Responsibilities
Develop and implement youth ministry programs and activities
Recruit, train, and manage youth ministry volunteers
Organize and lead youth group meetings, events, and retreats
Provide pastoral care and counseling to youth and their families
Collaborate with church leadership to align youth ministry with overall church mission
Create and manage the youth ministry budget
Promote participation in youth ministry activities through effective communication
Ensure a safe and welcoming environment for all youth participants
Engage with parents to support their role in their children’s spiritual growth
Plan and oversee youth-focused worship services
Facilitate small group discussions and Bible studies for youth
Coordinate mission trips and community service projects
Evaluate the effectiveness of youth ministry programs and make necessary adjustments
Maintain records and reports related to youth ministry activities
Stay updated on current trends and best practices in youth ministry
Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor’s degree in theology, religious studies, or related field
Previous experience in youth ministry or similar role
Strong understanding of adolescent development
Excellent organizational and leadership skills
Proficient in use of social media and digital communication tools
Ability to engage and inspire young people
Experience in event planning and coordination
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Knowledge of relevant safety and legal guidelines for working with minors
Proven experience in a leadership role within a religious community
Deep commitment to the values and teachings of the faith community
Ability to work collaboratively with church staff, volunteers, and parents
Strong public speaking and presentation skills
Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with young people
Ability to create engaging and relevant program content
Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required
Completion of background check and any required safety training
CPR and First Aid certification (preferred)
